Rebecca Elliott
Training and Enterprise Manager - Sefton Carers Centre

"Sonny and Marty, music leaders from Moment Music, ran an amazing workshop of 'Engagement through Digital Music' at Sefton Carer's Centre in December 2011 and they did a wonderful job of inspiring our young people to create some very interesting sounds!

The instruments they used captured the imagination of all including the youngest child who was only 4 years old. The musical equipment was set up without fuss and the young people were encouraged to really explore the whole range of sounds and intuitive instruments at their disposal.

Even the most reticent and shy young people eventually got drawn in and began experimenting with their own sounds and rhythms.

I would recommend Moment Music to any organisation or community group, they work really well with all ages and abilities and they were an absolute pleasure to have at our centre."

Julie Rimmer
Team Co-Ordinator - Well Young Person Project

"During the summer holidays MoMent Music delivered a 3 day workshop for 12 young people who access our service. The young people who attended have a variety of additional needs and/or disabilities.

During the 3 days all the young people wrote an original piece of music and lyrics.

The MoMent Music team where amazing! Demonstrating their ability to engage and inspire the young people to articulate their own thoughts and feelings about their experiences in the lyrics they wrote.

Through this workshop the young people had the opportunity to use music making to address issues affecting them, their families and their peers.

Each young person left on the last day with an individual CD of the music they had written and recorded.

The whole 3 days where fantastic with each young person being given individual time with a members of the MoMent team as well as having time to work in small groups.

The MoMent Music team where also exceptional in the way they where able to encourage each of the young people to sing, speak or rap their lyrics (some for the first time).

I would like to thank Sonny Philips and his team for organising and delivering a well thought out and professional workshop. I would highly recommend this programme to other young people's services."

I just about got her there after she had a huge meltdown, but she was glad she went in the end. She did really well & had a go of everything too. Marty & Sonny were really good with the kids, made it a good experience xxxxxxxxxxx

Matt was another child who didn't want to leave the house to come to the session, but kept thanking me for taking him afterwards and raving about how cool Sonny & Marty are. It has inspired him to take an interest in DJ'ing and he has now got DJ software on the out Sonny, bet you would never consider mixing Horrid Henry (Rockstar) with Tiny Dancer, lol.
